Our evening activities

Even though we did not take any pictures, we had a lovely night with some friends the other evening. Matthew and Paola, friends of ours who used to live next door to us at Borgo Villa Risi, had us to their new apartment where we had all sorts of Italian treats, delicious pizza and home made meringues. Anna and Christopher have really missed Matthew and Paola's girls, Giulia and Marina. The kids resumed playing like no time had passed. It is amazing how children can pick up right where they left off months ago. We did not get to see Giulia and Marina when we were in Siena in November so the kids were really looking forward to an evening with their friends.

We don't have any pictures from our evening, but Anna has been very interested in taking pictures and wanted one of her pictures posted to the blog. Here it is.

The other event that we did not photograph was a lovely dinner that Wade and I attended for Novartis. The dinner is at the home of the host of the conference that Wade ran this week. He lives in the Chianti countryside, about a twenty minute drive from our apartment. There is nothing like dining outside under the stars in the middle of the olive groves. We have attended this dinner three times and each year it provides a nice opportunity to socialize with Wade's colleagues from Novartis and an equally nice opportunity to enjoy the scenery outside of Siena. We are lucky that we get to attend this event because we have a fabulous babysitter in Wade's intern, Jennie. She babysat the kids three or four times last summer and they could not wait to spend another evening with her. Jennie is headed to London in the fall to attend graduate school, but all of us hope that our paths cross again soon.

Since we don't have any pictures of this either, I thought I'd stick in a nice picture Wade took of San Domenico through the gates at Santa Caterina's.

Sorry for the picture-lite post. More next time. I promise.
